E.P. Barrus is one of the UK's leading importers, manufacturers and distributors of engines, equipment and technology solutions. As our Hybrid and Newbuild operations continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on Workshop Supervisor to lead a small team of mechanics and apprentices while supporting the production of our innovative hybrid and engine systems.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong mechanical engineering expertise who enjoys leading by example, solving technical challenges and driving high standards of quality, safety and efficiency.

About the Role

As Workshop Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day activities of our Hybrid and Newbuild production area. Working closely with the Workshop Manager, you will allocate workloads, support and develop team members, monitor build quality, troubleshoot technical issues and ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.

This is a practical, workshop-based leadership role where you'll remain actively involved in building, testing, modifying and improving products, while helping to shape future production methods and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of production mechanics and apprentices.
• Allocate and monitor workloads to ensure production schedules are achieved.
• Provide technical guidance and resolve build and assembly issues.
• Carry out assembly, modification, testing, repair and overhaul activities to the highest standards.
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure finished products meet specification.
• Work closely with Production Engineering and Research & Development to improve efficiency and build standards.
• Champion health and safety compliance, including COSHH requirements.
• Maintain workshop organisation, tooling standards and equipment availability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and production processes.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Recognised apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
• Experience working within a workshop, manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and practical problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with mechanical and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements within an engineering environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Qualifications & Desirable Skills

• Marine engine experience.
• Knowledge of 12V, 24V or 48V electrical systems.
• Experience of hybrid engine technologies.
• Forklift licence.
• Experience of Lean, Continuous Improvement or 5S methodologies.
