Barrus gears up for change in its centennial year

E P Barrus Ltd announced today that two key people from the company’s Garden Divisions with a combined 50 years’ service would be taking retirement.

After 24 years’ service, Nick Hills will retire as General Manager for the Lawn & Garden and Tools Divisions effective September 27, 2017, and with 26 years’ service, Martin Wasley will retire as Sales and Technical Manager, Lawn & Garden Division effective September 29, 2017.

Both Nick and Martin have achieved an exceptional level of loyal service, and they have contributed greatly to the continuing growth and success of the Garden Divisions. “It is with great personal regret that we announce Nick and Martin’s retirement,” commented Robert Muir, Managing Director, E P Barrus Ltd. “We are indebted to these truly talented, and dedicated individuals, who have demonstrated an enduring commitment to driving the Lawn and Garden business forward to where it is today. They will be a difficult act to follow.”

Celebrating 100 years, 2017 has been the catalyst for exciting developments and opportunities within many parts of the business for Barrus. Robert Muir continued, “It is a dynamic time to join the company, and we are looking to appoint two senior managers who are capable of taking the Garden Divisions into their next phase and growing the business. With responsibility for some of the highest profile brands in the trade and one of the largest specialist dealer networks in the industry, there will be the support of an outstanding external sales, and internal support team.”

Entering the Lawn and Garden market during the late 1950’s, Barrus has firmly established itself as a key player in the sector with an enviable line-up of leading garden machinery and garden tool brands including Cub Cadet, Lawnflite, WOLF-Garten, Wilkinson Sword, Agri-Fab and Energizer.

Building on the foundation of record levels of sales this year the Garden Division is set to enter an exciting new phase in its future development.

The 2017 Dealer days held in September will be the launch pad to the trade with planned announcements on the introduction of new franchises and new season products.
