John Deere JD14 engines power the first UK application

Barrus is proud to have supplied the first John Deere JD14 engines in the UK to PowerLink for their new A500JS generator set.

PowerLink is a global energy company providing customers with diesel generators, gas generators, CHP units, battery storage systems, lighting towers, and air compressors for over 25 years.

Originally founded in Shanghai, China, the PowerLink Group has grown to have factories and offices in the UK, China, Australia and the USA, bases from which it meets the multiple and varied needs of customers ranging from factories to shopping centres, hotels to airports and even power stations to grids.

In recent years, PowerLink has focused on greener energy solutions and creating diesel-powered generators that adhere to emissions regulations worldwide, specifically Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V. 

A supportive partner

Bart Radka, Sales and Marketing Executive for PowerLink Energy, explained, "From the beginning of this venture, Barrus has been a supportive and collaborative partner with PowerLink in the development of diesel generators that utilise the John Deere engines fitted in both Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V generators."

These units are housed in PowerLink's custom-made soundproof canopies. A full range, powered by John Deere, is now available, from 60kVA to 500kVA.

The John Deere JD14 industrial engine is the culmination of more than 15 years of developing and refining effective engine design while keeping up with evolving emissions regulations. Having met the emissions regulations in the EU and North America, John Deere focused resources on refining and optimising these systems. With optionality and serviceability at the forefront, the engineering team took a high-level perspective to meet customer and market demands with the JD14.

PowerLink showcased its latest A500JS 500kVA set, powered by the John Deere JD14, at two major trade shows in the US during 2024: PowerGen, New Orleans, in January and Distribu Tech International, Orlando, in February.

Alongside this exciting new set, they exhibited the full range of John Deere-powered emission-compliant options they can now provide – including the A100JS and A220JS – providing performances of 100kVA and 220kVA, respectively.
