Engineering excellence has always been a strong focus for the company throughout its 95 years of trading and, today, Barrus has earned an enviable reputation as a leading custom-engine builder.

“Bicester can take pride in the fact that Barrus custom builds the engines for 95% of the MoDs craft under 100ft at their Bicester based facilities. We also provide the power for 220 RNLI stations, RNLI flood relief craft plus the RNLI beach rescue fleet,” said Robert Glen, Chairman of E. P. Barrus Ltd, speaking at the opening ceremony.

The emergency services organisations are also key customers of Barrus, including the majority of the UK Police Forces and Fire and Rescue Services, with Oxfordshire and neighbouring Buckinghamshire using Barrus supplied engines.

“Thanks to the continued support of our customers, I am delighted to announce that at our half year point sales are over 30% up on last year,” said Robert Glen. “Should we continue to expand at this rate, we will soon outgrow our three current locations in the Bicester area. Therefore, we are searching for an affordable site where we can all come together again under one roof. Our preference is to remain in the Bicester catchment area if at all possible,” concluded Robert Glen.
