Yanmar V8 Engine Option for Haines 32 Offshore
Posted on:13/10/2015
Following the recent launch of the new 2016 Haines 400 Aft Cabin model at the Southampton Boat Show, a craft fitted with twin Yanmar 8LV-370hp engines. Haines have again paired up with Yanmar to offer a single V8 engine option in the popular Haines 32 offshore model.
Reliability, durability and efficiency are the trademarks of the Yanmar marine diesel engine range, making it the engine of choice for a wide range of leisure and commercial applications including sailboats, luxury yachts, superyacht tenders, family cruisers, fishing and workboats.
"Light weight, at only 450kg, the new Yanmar 8LV is the lightest diesel engine in class and has the best power-to-weight ratio" Director Justin Haines explained. "These V8 engines are exceptionally smooth running and at tick over run at just 550 RPM, which means that slow speed handling is made easy, with the boat not going too fast at idle speed." he added.
Twin turbochargers cause the engine to reach maximum torque at just above 2000 rpm. A flat torque curve like this is ideal for strong throttle response in the mid-range. Fuel consumption charts show the best fuel economy is reached at about 3000 RPM, your ideal point for cruising, but there is plenty more power there if needed.
"We were so impressed with these engines in our recently produced 400 model that it made perfect sense to offer it in other models in the Haines range." Justin further added.
The Haines 32os model now offered with either the Yanmar 8LV 320hp or the 350hp.
